About Charvolant
Who are you? under construction
I’m glad you asked. My name is Gregory E. Pilling and I am the voice behind Charvolant.com. I am currently living in central New Jersey after having recently graduated from the New Jersey Institue of Technology’s School of Business. I now have a degree in Management with my specialization being in Marketing, but I also spent plenty of time in the Architecture program as well. Since graduating, I have continued to learn on my own by reading the experts’ books and blogs about marketing, branding, social networking, business models, design, psychology and even philosophy.
I have three passions in life: music, design and marketing. And within all three, I have some particularly offbeat interests. Some people might say I have weird tastes, but that’s okay because I think theirs are boring. Throughout my life, I have always looked at things from a different perspective than most other people I knew. I love seeing the bigger picture of how things fit together which is probably why I am so interested in business, but I have always been devoted to making every detail perfect
This blog represents part of my effort to join the online conversation and offer some of my own unorthodox thoughts about a range of business-related topics, and maybe a few others, to the world.
What is a Charvolant?
The Charvolant was the first kite-powered carriage, invented in 1826 by George Pocock. It achieved an estimated speed of 20 miles per hour, making it the fastest mode of transportation of its day. Combine that with the facts that it was also powered by a renewable resource and it was less expensive (both in maintenance and by not being required to pay road tolls because it used no horses), it was quite a remarkable feat, if you ask me. The Charvolant was far ahead of its time and has been a source of inspiration to me, so I decided to name my blog after it in tribute to it’s inventor.
