And One - Paddy Is My DJ maxi single

Back in February during And One’s US tour, Steve Naghavi said the band would return to the North America for a second tour in the Fall, but it’s already nearly Winter. Bodypop 1½ was supposed to have been released a half dozen times already, but it keeps getting delayed more and more. And One sure does like to get us all excited and then turn us away in despair when they don’t deliver, but we always come crawling back when there’s more news.

New single “Paddy Is My DJ”
And One is set to release a new single called “Paddy Is My DJ” on December 16th. It’s a limited edition single. Only 500 units will be produced, and it’s only being released on an appropriately orange-colored 7″ vinyl record. The all new song will be paired with a live favorite, And One’s cover of Project Pitchfork’s “Timekiller” which was recorded in Hamburg, as a B-side.

“Paddy Is My DJ” will not appear on Bodypop 1½, and it’s not likely there will be a CD version produced, so head on over to the Out Of Line webshop to pre-order your copy of the single today. The top hat on the cover and the orange color of the vinyl makes it cool enough to own even if you don’t have a turntable… but you should probably get one if you don’t.

What happened to Bodypop 1½?
According to the latest And One email newsletter, this new single is only an appetizer for what’s about to come. It says the release of Bodypop 1½ “may be right around the corner.” As much as I would love to believe that, I’ve heard it too many times already so I will just wait for further confirmation on that. Actually, it sounds like they’re not even sure, using the word “may”…

And One - “Paddy Is My DJ” tracklisting:
A: Paddy Is My DJ
B: Timekiller (Live in Hamburg)

Fanoe’s Empire Dirt available as a free download

Fanoe Empire Dirt

Greg told you all about Fanoe’s second album, Down to Heaven, but if you haven’t checked them out yet, now’s your chance to get a taste of what the Swiss industrial-rock group have been doing. The first album, Empire Dirt, is now available in its entirety as a free download, along with two tracks from Down to Heaven. Head on over to the download area of the site and choose between 320 and 192kbps mp3 packages. If you like what you hear, the albums are available at cdbaby, iTunes and cduniverse among other retailers, or consider making a donation to support the band directly.

Eisbrecher’s Sünde: US release delayed

Eisbrecher - Sünde

Dancing Ferret Discs had been set to release Sünde in the US on August 26, but unfortunately this will not be happening, presumably as a result of the plans to shut down DFD’s operations. No new North American label or release date has yet been announced by Eisbrecher’s management, and at this point, there will likely be a delay of at best several months before a US version is on the shelves. Import versions of both the single and the album will however be available through IsoTank and amazon.com, or for download from iTunes and amazon. The German release is unaffected and still on schedule for release on August 22.

A new Treibhaus album out in October?

Last October, Treibhaus announced that they had begun work on their third album, Alarmstufe Rot. The other day, there was a brief mention on the band’s myspace page that the album would be released this October. This has not yet been confirmed and the note has since been removed, but it sounds like a reasonable timeframe.

UPDATE:

Curt from Treibhaus recently sent out a newsletter with more details on the album release. Recording and mixing is done, only the mastering left to be done. He reported they are on track for a late October or early November release.

E Nomine has a new single and a new album, but when are they being released?

E Nomine - Heilig single

E Nomine is a well known name among German music fans. Their catchy electronic dance music combined with traditional Gregorian-style chanting elements is quite an impressive combination to say the least. Unfortunately, it has been several years since a new E Nomine album was released and fans have begun to get anxious. The band hasn’t even updated their website in 3 years! There was a glimpse of hope last year when a new single called “Heilig” appeared on some music mailorder sites including Amazon.de, but the supposed December 28th, 2007 release was cancelled and we still have no new E Nomine to listen to.

Or do we? You obviously can’t order the single from anywhere, but a little bit of research did reveal a website where you can listen to short clips from this 6-track maxi single. Well, that’s a start. But I’ve also heard that the new album is called Das Dunkle Element and it’s been finished for a while now. It also appears to contain some songs that were already previously released (for example, the title track “Das Dunkle Element” was released on the “Das Böse” single). So what’s stopping the release? Maybe E Nomine is having label problems, maybe the members are having personal issues, I really don’t know. If you have any tips about E Nomine, please leave a comment and share your knowledge with us.

01. Heilig (Radio Edit)
02. Heilig (Single Mix)
03. Heilig (Rock It Radio Mix)
04. Heilig (Extended Version)

11. Element Interlude 5 (Spirale)
12. Spiegelbilder (Album Version)
13. Element Interlude 6 (des Lichts)
14. Carpe Noctem (Album Version)

16. Wer Den Wind Sat…(Album Version)
17. Element Interlude 8
18. Espiritu Del Aire (Album Version)
19. Element Interlude 9

Edit: Yes, I know most of the tracks on the album were already released. The album tracklisting is just a rumor so far, it’s not official, so please don’t mistake it for anything confirmed!

New Eisbrecher album planned for August

Eisbrecher

New album, tour, and DVD
Eisbrecher is one of our favorite bands here at Germaniac, so I always try to keep the site up to date whenever there is news from the band. Their most recent announcement: Plans to release their third album later this year in August! This is great news, even though there are no details yet… no exact release date, album title or song names. Eisbrecher is also marking off September for a German tour, and would like to release a DVD in the future, too. My guess would be that the DVD will have some live material recorded during the tour and then released some time after that.

Join the Eisbrecher street team
Alexx and the rest of the band have high hopes for the future, but they will need your support. They are asking fans to sign up for a street team to help spread the word about Eisbrecher. If you’re a fan and would like to help out (and I hope you would), just send an email to anna@eis-brecher.com and let them know. If you do, please include your name and address, email, the cities you’re active in, and your favorite CD shops and clubs. They would also like to know where you might be able to bring posters or flyers and what online forums you participate in. Any other promo ideas are welcome, too.

New Umbra Et Imago coming soon, but what is it?

Umbra Et Imago

Umbra Et Imago is releasing a CD called Gott Will Es on November 9th, but I have no idea what it is. The official band website doesn’t have any recent news as usual, and their MySpace page doesn’t help much, either. I just see it listed in a few internet retailers like Infrarot.de and Amazon.de, but none of them say whether it’s an album or a single as far as I can tell. Judging by the price of it on both of those sites compared to other Umbra Et Imago CDs, it looks like it could be an album. But then German Wikipedia has it listed under “Singles and Live” so it could be a single, although Wikipedia is getting notorious for having misleading CD information prior to the release date. Maybe a live album? A live album usually comes with more goodies and a DVD, though. I sent an email to the band asking about it, so I’ll let you know what they say. For now, all I can tell you is that something is coming.

Farmer Boys silence = Dacia and the WMDs

Dacia and the WMDs

Dacia Bridges is a native of the United States, but she has been living in Germany for quite some time and is quickly gaining a reputation there for her vocal talent. She has been producing music in her band Dacia and the Weapons of Mass Destruction since 2004 with her husband Alex Schlopp, the guitarist from The Farmer Boys. Ralf Botzenhart, also from The Farmer Boys, is playing bass for the band, and they are joined by drummer Alex Menichini. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 2006 and they are currently writing new songs for a followup.

Dacia and the WMDs is definitely rock, but Dacia’s light, female vocals take a lot of the roughness away from it. That might help to make the band more of a success, but it seems that wasn’t hard enough for Alex. He has also been active in another band called Tieflader for a few years. Their sound is much heavier and much more aggressive than that of Dacia’s, and will probably be appreciated more by any true metalhead.

All of this helps to explain why The Farmer Boys have been silent ever since their 2004 album The Other Side. I have heard plenty of rumors that the band has permanently split up, but there has never been any official word about this. Only evidence like this that suggests the band will remain silent for at least the new future while the members work on other music projects. It’s a real shame, because The Farmer Boys were an incredible band with some of the coolest guitar riffs I have ever heard. I really do hope their silence is just temporary.

You can hear some music by Dacia and the WMDs on MySpace.com/DaciaAndTheWMD.
And you can hear some Tieflader music on MySpace.com/Tieflader.

First Emigrate single

Emgirate

The debut album from Emigrate is just a few weeks away, and new rumors are spreading around all the time. The latest reportedly comes from Motor Music which announced that the song “New York City” will be the first Emigrate single, although I have been unable to find the actual source of this information. This song is most likely in reference to Richard’s home in Manhattan, which further builds upon the Emigrate theme.

And one last bit of news: Emigrate.eu has a new web design, so take a look when you have a moment.

Reported “New York City” single tracklisting
01. New York City
02. My World
03. New York City (Remix by Alex Empire)
04. Blood (Non-Album Track)

The pieces are coming together

Sonic Front - Pieces

Sonic Front made a post on their Myspace blog a few days ago that says “great news will follow very soon” and shows a distorted version of the band’s logo. It looks like we are getting closer to the release of their new album Pieces. I have heard that they are sending out promotional copies of the album right now, too.

The band also uploaded an image on Myspace which is probably the album cover (seen here). Seeing this cover is very exciting because it was one of Christoph’s wishes to have the famous German graphic designer Dirk Rudolph create the cover for a Sonic Front album. Dirk has done amazing work for all sorts of German bands including Die Krupps, In Extremo, De/Vision, Weissglut, Die Toten Hosen, and Rammstein. Check out his newly updated website and the PDF file of his more recent work. If you’re really into this kind of artwork, I would strongly recommend checking out his book Spark.

Eisenherz working on a new album

Eisenherz logo

According to some admin comments in the guestbook of the official Eisenherz website, it appears that the band is working on some new material for a second album. Their self-titled debut album was released in October of 2006 and turned out to be a big hit with many German music fans, so we should only expect the best from any new material the band produces.

For more info about the band and their current album, visit the official Eisenherz website at EisenherzBand.de. Take a look at their music video for the song “Die Seele Brennt” as well.
