New single pluralizes Eisblume

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Eisblume - EisblumenEisblume released their first EP titled Unter dem Eis last year, and personally I was just blown away. Definitely one of my favourite releases last year. Now the incredibly beautiful goth pop band has come out with a brand new single titled Eisblumen, now meaning tomorrow on the 16th of January. And guess what? Eisblumen is actually a cover of Subway to Sally’s song released on the Nord Nord Ost record in 2005, and it also pretty much kicks the original version in the balls. Except breath-takingly gracefully and beautifully, if a beatdown can be performed with such qualities.

This single is available in two versions, a basic one with a radio mix and a remix, and a pricier version with… something. There are various kinds of tracklists available on the net, and some places even claim there would be a poster included. But what at least seems to be sure is that this edition has a music video included, which is also viewable for example here.

Oh hey, you can also get Derek van Krogh’s remix of Unter dem Eis for free if you sign up for Eisblume’s newsletter on the official site. Don’t miss out on the samples on Eisblume’s MySpace, either, if you haven’t heard the band before! Seriously, I recommend you to check this one out.

Eisblume - Eisblumen 2-track tracklist
1. Eisblumen (Radio Mix)
2. Eisblumen (Eisblumen Remix)

Available from Amazon.de, EMP.de

Eisblume - Eisblumen other edition (?)
1. Eisblumen Radio Mix
X extra tracks, ranging from none at all to three, two of which are remixes/instrumentals of Eisblumen and one of which is older track Louise or Zeit zu gehen. Thanks, Eisblume and the record label for not giving any sort of clear indication of what this version of the single contains.

Oomph!’s Sandmann detailed

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Oomph! - SandmannNow that Oomph!’s new single track Sandmann was unveiled in the form of a video a week ago, retailers have started getting the information on the single release itself. It’ll be released soon on February 20th, and as usual and predicted, there are two versions: the basic 2-track single with the title track and remix by [:SITD:], and a limited digipack edition with more than a little extra on the side. There’s the song Auf Kurs which was already featured on Monster, but also the B-side Du lügst which I believe was previously only available on iTunes’s version of the album. And there’s also three music videos packed on the disc, so that’s pretty cool.

By the way, it’s nice to have a digipack again, since the last three Oomph! releases were all jewelcases. Digipack just looks so much better it’s not even funny, it seems a lot of fans (including yours truly) were really disappointed to see that even the premium edition of the Labyrinth single was in your basic plastic cover. Oh well, now it looks like GUN Records learned their lesson - we pay for the package as well.

Oomph! - Sandmann basic tracklist
1. Sandmann
2. Sandmann ([:SITD:] remix)

Available from Amazon.de, EMP.de, jpc.de

Oomph! - Sandmann limited digipack tracklist
1. Sandmann
2. Sandmann ([:SITD:] remix)
3. Auf Kurs
4. Du lügst
5. Sandmann video
6. Auf Kurs video
7. Labyrinth video

Barroom Heroes release their debut album

Barroom Heroes - Once It Was An Attitude debut album cover

Barroom Heroes is a new punkrock band from Emden that formed in 2006 and then started playing their first shows in 2007. Now they are on the verge of taking the next big step, releasing their debut album …Once It Was An Attitude!? in just under a month from now. The release date according to their website is February 13th (although their latest MySpace newsletter says January 30th), and it will be released on the Sunny Bastards label.

In everything Barroom Heroes does, they strive to keep the original punk attitude alive. That’s how the band started, after all. They were simply tired of the local scene and wanted to start something they actually liked. You can hear this in the band’s music, of course, which you can sample on their MySpace page. That should give you a nice taste of what the rest of the 14 song album sounds like. If you like what you hear, you can find their album in the Sunny Bastard online shop for €10.90.

Barroom Heroes - Once It Was An Attitude tracklisting
01. Alice
02. Best Days

Project Pitchfork’s new album and single out soon

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Project Pitchfork banner

The well-respected veteran industrial electro and darkwave outfit Project Pitchfork fronted by the ever-prolific Peter Spilles has finally come out with their new album: Dream, Tiresias!. It will be available February 27th, and it’ll be preceded by the single Feel!, which will be out in just over a week on the 23rd. Dream, Tiresias! is Project Pitchfork’s first full album since Kaskade which was released Project Pitchfork - Dream, Tiresias!already four years ago in 2005, although they do have put out an odd single and EP here and there. The new album appears to be a concept album of sorts, with each track having a second title like “First dream”, “Second dream” and so on, and the piece of news on the official site tells us that Dream, Tiresias! will show the true essence of Project Pitchfork. I’m always up for a good concept album, and also unleashing a band’s true nature certainly doesn’t make matters worse very often, so sounds good to me.

Dream, Tiresias! will be available in three different set-ups: the Europe-only basic and limited special editions, and also a limited US edition with three bonus tracks picked from the Feel! single which won’t be released outside Europe. The European special set will feature a second disc alongside the album itself, an MCD with three additional tracks. Two are new,Project Pitchfork - Feel! and one is a remix of the song One Million Faces which was released in 2007. And oh yeah, the single Feel! will be EP-length and boast a total of nine tracks, eight of which are remixes by various big names like [:SITD:] and Die Krupps - you can see them all after the break in the tracklist.

For a taster of Dream, Tiresias! you should head to Pitchfork’s MySpace, there’s one full track and four snippets from the upcoming album for you to listen. Both the single and the basic version of the album are preorderable at Amazon.de (single, album) and Infrarot.de (single, album), and Isotank has the US version. Metropolis will presumably distribute the album and sell it at some point as well, seeing as they’re Pitchfork’s label of choice on the other side of the Atlantic. The special edition with the additional CD I wasn’t able to find anywhere, but maybe it’ll emerge at one point or the other.

Eisbrecher’s Sünde to be released in North America

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Eisbrecher - Sünde (North American version)

Eisbrecher’s latest album Sünde, which has already been out in Europe for several months now, was not released in North America like their previous 2 albums were. That’s because Dancing Ferret, the label that previously distributed them across the continent, shut down late last year and left them without representation overseas. Fortunately, Eisbrecher has now been picked up by Metropolis Records, which is arguably the biggest electro and industrial label on this side of the Atlantic, and is a favorite for bringing great European bands to the States.

The North American version of Sünde will be released on March 10th. The tracklisting will remain the same as the (limited edition of the) European version, but the album will have completely new artwork as seen in the image above. You can already pre-order the album on the Metropolis mailorder site for just $12.98.

Maybe Eisbrecher has a better chance of touring North America now that they are being distributed and promoted here again, and by a much more prominent label. Let’s hope so!

Eisbrecher - Sünde (North American version)
01. Kann Denn Liebe Sünde Sein?
02. Alkohol
03. Komm Süsser Tod
04. Heilig
05. Verdammt Sind
06. Die Durch Die Hölle Gehen
07. Herzdieb
08. 1000 Flammen
09. This Is Deutsch
10. Zu Sterben
11. Mehr Licht
12. Kuss
13. This Is Deutsch (SITD-Remix)
14. Blut Und Tränen
15. Alkohol (Rotersand-Remix)
16. Kann Denn Liebe Sünde Sein? (SITD-Remix)

Blutengel’s new album Schwarzes Eis to be released soon, L’Âme Immortelle’s live DVD+CD already released

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Blutengel’s new album Schwarzes Eis

Chris Pohl’s main project Blutengel has Blutengel - Schwarzes Eisannounced that a new album titled Schwarzes Eis will be released on Friday the 13th in February. The album, which was preceded by the single Dancing in the Light in November will be a grand package indeed, as even the normal version will have another CD along with the main album. The second disc is called Behind the Mirror and it’ll boast eight completely new instrumental tracks. The limited edition of the album, however, is where the real action is. Schwarzes Eis? Check. Behind the Mirror? Check. Fancy box? Check. Grandiose 40-page booklet? Check. A third CD with not just bonus tracks but an actual, second new album? Che… Wait, what? Yeah, the third disc is a whole album of its own, Redemption, and it’ll have 10 tracks that didn’t fit on Schwarzes Eis. One of the songs is a new version of Winter of my Life which was released earlier this year as a download and very limited 7 inch vinyl. So all in all, you’ll be getting a total of three discs full of brand-new Blutengel goodness. What’s not to like?

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the album anywhere for preorders, but in the meantime you can listen to a part of the song Dreh dich nicht um on Blutengel’s MySpace (which has actually been updated).

L’Âme Immortelle’s live DVD+CD emerges from the shadows

L´Âme Immortelle - Jenseits der SchattenThe Austrian L’Âme Immortelle’s new live DVD and CD package Jenseits der Schatten was released December 15th. The DVD side has the whole concert filmed during the band’s Namenlos tour, and it contains 21 songs from all around the band’s production, whereas the CD has 16 tracks picked from the set (you can see the track list for both after the break). Interestingly, the concert was filmed completely in black and white, making for a rather unique look. The DVD also contains some extras, for example more live material filmed in Vienna and behind the scenes goofiness.

The DVD+CD was initially only released as a limited edition six-panel digipack, and it’s available at most of your usual stores: Amazon.de for 21,95 €, Infrarot.de for 18,99 €, EMP.de for 21,99 € or for you in the US, Isotank for $24.99. Please note that the CD or DVD aren’t available separately! Just though I’d need to clear that up, since my original post was a bit ambiguous on the matter.

You can watch the trailer for the DVD here, or listen to two songs from the CD on L’Âme Immortelle’s MySpace.

Limbogott releases their first German language song as a free MP3 download

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Limbogott

Limbogott are quickly becoming industrial-shock-metal extraordinaires, but their first 2 albums were sung entirely in English, a language not native to this German group. It looks like things are changing, though… at least for “Haus der Lüge”, the song they teamed up with Chris Pohl of Blutengel to record. But “Haus der Lüge” is not just the band’s first song recorded in German. It is also the first single from their forthcoming third album Spit or Swallow. And now you can download it as an MP3 file for free!

Head over to e-junkie.com to download “Haus der Lüge”, Limbogott’s Christmas present to their fans. (Be sure to hurry, because it’s only available for free until December 31st.) The song is likely to be an indication about how Limbogott’s sound is progressing, but will the German lyrics make it over to the rest of the songs on Spit or Swallow? We’ll just have to wait and find out in the time leading up to it’s February 13th release date.

Thanks to Mikki for the tip

More club-friendly electro-industrial from Wynardtage

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Wynardtage - The Grey Line

The electro-industrial band Wynardtage released their fourth studio album last month on November 21st. It’s called The Grey Line, and it comes just over a year after their last studio album Praise the Fallen. Once again, the band delivers a solid club-compatible album, with 11 songs including a special appearance by Melanie G from davaNtage on the title track. The album also has 3 bonus remixes, but you have to pay attention because the European version (released on E-Noxe) has different remixes than the North American version (released on COP International).

You can find a few songs from The Grey Line on the Wynardtage MySpace page along with some older ones. For additional samples from the new album, you can listen on AlphaMusic.de, which also has the Euro version of the album for sale for EUR 13.99. COP International’s webshop and Isotank are tied for the best price on the North American version at $9.99.

12th Kreator album Hordes of Chaos coming in January, massive North American tour in the Spring

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Kreator - legendary German thrash metal band

Since Kreator’s inception a generation ago in 1982 in Essen, Germany, the band has become legends of thrash metal. They have continually gained fans and fame worldwide as they remain at the forefront of the genre. Their latest album, Enemy of God, proved to be their most successful, reaching spot 19 in the German album charts… quite good for a band that’s so far away from the popularity contest where most mainstream musicians battle it out. But Enemy of God is now 4 years old and has already been re-released, so it’s time for something new.

Enter Hordes of Chaos, Kreator’s new album for 2009. The 10 tracks it contains were recorded earlier this year during July and August, and are expected to be a bit more organic sounding, given the relative simplicity of the live setting and analog tape method that was used to record them. This is the first time in 20 years the band has recorded this way, according to the band’s singer Mille Petrozza. The length of the album is different also, in that it’s more than 15 minutes shorter than Enemy of God, coming in at under 40 minutes. Don’t expect the quality to suffer, though. A quick listen to the sample of the song “Warcurse” won’t let you down.

Kreator - Hordes of Chaos

Are 4 different versions enough?
Hordes of Chaos will be released in 4 different formats. First, the standard version will just have the 10 songs on a CD in a normal jewel case. Second, the limited edition will contain the CD plus a bonus DVD with a “making of Hordes of Chaos” video, 2 videos of songs performed live, and the music video for the album’s title track which was influenced by the movie 300. Third, the “ultra deluxe edition” will contain the CD, an extended version of the bonus DVD, a Kreator T-shirt, and a book. And finally, there will be an LP version of the album which will feature alternative artwork not available on any of the CD versions. All the versions will be released on January 13th in North America, January 16th in Germany, and January 19th in the rest of Europe.

You can find the album anywhere
Because Kreator is such a well known band around the world, you should have no problem finding Hordes of Chaos (or most other Kreator albums) in your local CD shop. And if you’re a child of the internet age, you can easily find it on any major online retailer like Amazon.com. They’ve got most of the versions available: the standard edition, the limited edition, and the vinyl LP version, but not the ultra deluxe edition. I haven’t found anywhere you can buy that version yet. Amazon.com also has the tracks for sale as MP3 downloads, which you can buy either together as an album or as individual songs. You just have to wait for the release date before they become available.

Follow the jump and read to rest of the article, including the album track listing and Kreator’s North American tour dates.
