We missed talking about a few good releases earlier in the year, one of which was the album Die Wahrheit Übers Lügen by the Farin Urlaub Racing Team. Of course, you know Farin Urlaub as the singer of the punk rock band Die Ärzte, which released their incredibly successful album Jazz Ist Anders about a year ago. Taking into consideration all the related activities the band did, like touring, it’s a bit of a miracle that he got another solo album out so quickly. But he did, and it’s a quality album, too.

Die Wahrheit Übers Lügen, which was released back on Halloween, translates to “the truth about lies”, a name that is both funny and serious at the same time. You can hear hints of this duality in the music itself, as well. Speaking of the music, Farin Urlaub’s website has samples so you can listen to bits of all 15 songs from the album. You can also watch all kinds of Farin Urlaub-related videos on FUtube.de, a really great website idea.

Farin Urlaub Racing Team will also be releasing a new single for the song “Niemals” on January 9th. It will be the second single for the album, following “Nichimgriff” which was released 2 weeks before Die Wahrheit Übers Lügen on October 17th.

Die Ärzte is getting ready to release their next maxi single in support of their latest album Jazz Ist Anders. It will be the song “Lasse Redn” and will be out on Friday, April 11th. This will already be their 3rd single for this album, following “Junge” and “Lied vom Scheitern“, but don’t expect it to be their last. Die Ärzte has typically been releasing 4 or 5 singles per album lately, so I would bet there will be at least one more. I have no idea what song it will be, though. Any guesses?

The “Lasse Redn” single will be released as both a CD in a digipack and as a 7″ vinyl record. As far as I can tell, they both have the same basic tracklisting which includes the B-side “Komm zu Papa” and 2 alternate “economy version” tracks , along with the title track. The “Lasse Redn” music video is also on the CD version so you can play it on your computer, but sadly they haven’t come up with the technology to put videos on records yet.

“Lied vom Scheitern” is the second song on Die Ärzte’s current album Jazz Ist Anders, and it will also be their second single for that album. The single will be released at the end of next week on January 18th as both a CD and a 7″ vinyl record. Aside from the title track (and its video on the CD version), the single features a B-side called “Nichts Gesehen” which does not appear on Jazz Ist Anders, plus 2 alternate versions of songs taken from the “Economy Version” of Jazz Ist Anders.

What is the Jazz Ist Anders Economy Version? Basically, it is an alternative version of the album that Die Ärzte sold at concerts during their Es Wird Eng tour. It has all the same songs as the regular Jazz Ist Anders album, but they are recorded differently. The artwork has also been changed to look kind of like a child drew it. Despite being sold exclusively during their concerts, it looks like they had some vinyls left over which are now being sold at some online retailers.

One more thing, Die Ärzte is going on a second tour in Europe beginning in May, called the Jazzfäst Tour. Check out their tour page for the complete list of dates.

Is that a new CD or the pizza I ordered? That’s what I think of when I look at the cover of the new Die Ärzte album Jazz Ist Anders. The graphic art theme for the album is clearly inspired by a pizzeria, and the band’s website matches, too. In fact, the vinyl version of the album actually comes in a pizza box! Unfortunately, a round piece of vinyl doesn’t taste quite as good as pizza does, but it sure sounds a whole lot better.

Jazz Ist Anders is Die Ärzte’s 11th full-length studio release and contains 16 songs including the single “Junge” on track 6. Their sound hasn’t changed at all really, still the energetic punk-rock we’re familiar with. The album will hit stores across Europe in just less than a month on November 2nd. Die Ärzte is heading towards an album release on November 2nd, but first they’re doing a bit of promotion with the first single from the new album. “Junge” has already been playing on the airwaves in Germany since August, but the single is just now going to be released this Friday, October 5th. Aside from the title track, the “Junge” single contains 2 B-sides which will not appear on the forthcoming album.

The “Junge” video looks like a scene straight out of Dawn of the Dead. There are zombies roaming the streets destroying everything in sight. As the video progresses, they turn other people into zombies and eventually overpower the band who are perched on top of a bus. Farin Urlaub never stood a chance.
