Documentary about Einstürzende Neubauten planned
The Berlin-based film maker Uli Schueppel is planning a documentary about Einstürzende Neubauten’s first concert which took place on December 21st, 1989 in what was then East Berlin. This should be really interesting to see when it’s completed, but for now Uli is in search of anyone who attended that concert and who can provide some additional information for his documentary. Anyone who can help should contact him at info@schueppel-films.de.

Diary Of Dreams has a clothing collection
I don’t know how old this news is, but it caught me by surprise as I was browsing Infrarot.de. Apparently Diary Of Dreams has launched a clothing line in association with the gothic clothing company Aderlass. They have several different styles of jackets, trench coats, pants and skirts available. You can see them all on Infrarot.de here, but I have to warn you, they are pretty expensive. The prices range from €89.90 to €239.90.

Lacrimosa begins work on new album
Lacrimosa, the Swiss gothic metal band headed up by Tilo Wolff, has begun working on their next album. This will be the band’s 10th studio album since they formed in 1990, and their first major release since their 2007 live album Lichtjahre. If you’re in Europe, be sure to catch one of their upcoming concerts or the Blackfield Festival in Gelsenkirchen where they will be headlining.

Diary of Dreams - Nekrolog 43

The single “The Plague” started the hype for the new Diary of Dreams album a few weeks ago, and now its release date is finally just around the corner. In less than 2 weeks, on October 26th, Nekrolog 43 will be released in Europe. The album will be available in 2 different versions, both boasting over 70 minutes of music within their 13 tracks. With the limited edition, you also get the special “ecolbook” packaging (which is basically a CD-sized hardcover book) containing 32 pages of special artwork and photos. There is also a special CD label that is different from the regular version.

For my fellow Americans, it looks like we will only be getting one version of the album (but that’s certainly better than none). And while we do have to wait another week and a half until November 6th, we do get a different album cover. Metropolis Records already has the album available to pre-order for just $12.98.

Diary of Dreams is supposed to have made Nekrolog 43 deeper and more diverse than their previous album Nigredo was three years ago. I’ve read that their captivating darkwave sound remains fully intact and has only gotten better. That sounds good to me, considering I really enjoyed Nigredo. You can hear “The Plague” on the band’s MySpace page along with some older tracks. There are also 2 song samples from Nekrolog 43 of Metropolis’s Diary of Dreams page.

4 new releases out today

Friday, September 21st, 2007

There’s been so much news lately that I haven’t really had any time to tell you about 4 more releases that are hitting stores today. Normally I would go over them individually and in more detail, but I’m in a bit of a time crunch right now because later tonight I will be seeing Ulrich Schnauss live in New York City (more U.S. tourdates here) so I’m lumping them all together into one post and doing a quick overview for today. I’ll probably post about them in more detail at some time in the future.

  • Diary of Dreams - The Plague
Diary of Dreams has a new album coming up next month, and this single gives you a nice preview. Two versions of “The Plague” plus additional songs “Allocution” and “Traumtänzer”.
  • Götterdämmerung - Of Whores and Culture
This is kind of a gothic/new wave band from the Netherlands, and their new album (with quite an interesting title) features 10 new songs. Check out some of their music here.
  • Coppelius - Time-Zeit
Coppelius is an interesting band combining rock music with cellos, clarinets, the double bass, and other more traditional instruments. They also seem to have an old-fashioned sense of style. Check their MySpace page for some music. Thanks to Maija for pointing this one out.
  • Laibach - Nova Akropola (re-release)
And finally, I thought I would point out that one of Laibach’s older albums, Nova Akropola, is being re-released today. I know, they’re Slovenian, not German technically. But they have strong links to Germany, often use the German language, and are adored by most German music fans I know, so they’re approved.

There you have it. The terribly abridged, perhaps even rushed version of today’s releases. I’m sorry I don’t have more time to get into the details, but I’ll provide you with everything you need to know over the next few days. See you tomorrow.
