New song samples by Alex Veljanov and Markus Winter

Veljanov - “His Vita”
Alexander Veljanov gave us a very generous sample (almost 4 minutes long!) of a song from his forthcoming solo album Porta Macedonia a few days ago. As you’d expect, his vocals are superbly executed, but the music itself isn’t quite as powerful as what Ernst Horn produces with him for Deine Lakaien. Go check out the song “His Vita” on Veljanov’s MySpace page and hear for yourself.

Markus Winter - “Life Ain’t Worth Living”
Markus Winter also has a new sample of his upcoming single “Life Ain’t Worth Living“. It’s much shorter than the Veljanov sample, but should still give you an idea of what his 2009 album Life In Uncertain Times should sound like. You can hear the sample on the Hertzton MySpace page.

Porta Maceodnia, lol… I didn’t know he’s “macedonian” but it’s always fun to see how people there really think Alexander the Great and king Samuil are Maceodnians and they have history at all. Macedonia is kinda = Western Bulgaria, just so you know.

Anyway, I heard the sample and honestly, it’s not for me. It’s too slow, monotonous and hey, he doesn’t even sing well here =/

LOL well, i’ve been told that same thing by someone else, and i do like some rather obscure bands and music styles. i do love the sample, and personally don’t have any problems with the way he sings. each to their own :D

edit: i’m talking about markus winter’s song… veljanov’s song i don’t care for at all.

I’ve always liked Deine Lakaien as well as some of Veljanov’s other work. This one isn’t quite the same…

I was having a discussion with someone and we figured out that singers who go solo can still sing great, but they often lack the songwriting skills that their typical musical partners have, so the solo work usually isn’t as good as the original band they were in.

Slightly unrelated, I found this funny text on the Wikipedia page for Veljanov:
“…and the secret to his fabulous hair still remain a mystery.” :D

I was very surprised at how good Winter’s new solo stuff is. I had never heard him sing in English previously, and was really impressed at the approach he took with the new song.

I can’t wait until Sept. 12th when I can download it off of itunes. The acoustic version off the single should be awesome :D
