[...] Do you remember the awesome remix version of Rammstein’s Ohne Dich by Laibach and Mina Harker? Well, now Mina Harker has finally, just about a week ago on October 31st, released her very first album titled Tiefer. Tiefer seems to be a very promising blend of gothic, industrial, rock and poppy things with Harker’s great voice on top of it all. On top of ten other rock-pop-goth songs, there’s also a duet with Dero from Oomph!, who Harker will be supporting on their German tour for the successful album Monster. [...]

I would tend to disagree too. I've been following OOMPH! since 1999, but to my taste, WoP was their best album. It seemed to me like the result of years and years of experimentation into many directions, to finally get an accessible sound of their very own. I love Plastik and Ego a whole lot, and Defekt has some amazing highlights (I was never a big fan of Unrein though), but I wasn't disappointed by their more commercial sound in WoP. I expected a bit more from GLT, but still liked it a whole lot. I am once again expecting a lot with Monster, hopefully I won't be disappointed!

Another thing I'd disagree on is the album covers ;) I think WoP had a great cover, Plastik's cover was really cool too. And Ego really wasn't that bad. I actually think some covers submitted by fans for Monster were better than the one they picked, but yeah, it's a decent choice.

I'm glad Oomph! hasn't lost all their fans. I started listening to this band over 10 years ago and they had a very different sound then. That's what I remember from my "golden years" of discovering new German music, so that's what I love the most and their recent work just doesn't come close for me.

Having said that, there are 2 tracks which I do kinda like the samples... "Die Leiter" and "Revolution". So I think this one will probably be better than GlaubeLiebeTod or Wahrheit Oder Pflicht, but still not as good as Unrein or Plastik.

Same here.

...Well, not quite the very same but almost, I enjoy their earlier works a lot as well. I still think, though, that the very best Oomph!-albums are the Virgin-era ones, Unrein, Plastik and Ego. WoP and GLT have been great too, although especially on WoP the claims of a more mainstream sound are definitely not completely off-base.

Hmm... I can't say I'm not TOTALLY FIRED UP FOR MONSTER AND I CAN'T WAIT ARHGH!, but I do have some lingering doubts. For example the song Revolution which I was anticipating greatly because it was promised to be a heavily electronic track in the vein of the first album doesn't seem like it's that different after all, judging by the samples I've heard. In that respect, a bit of a letdown, but Revolution doesn't sound bad per se. Also, where's my successor to Menschsein, the without doubt most brutal and ass-kicking piece on GLT? On the other hand, tracks like Die Leiter, Wer schön sein will muss leiden and In deinen Hüften sound totally awesome. Soon we'll see what the final product is like.

All in all, even though it'll most likely be very difficult to keep my pants on when I finally get Monster, there's still that one German release I'm expecting even more and can't help but salivate at the thought of it. It's the one that will be released on the very same day as Monster... Come already, you 22th of August! Or actually, the week after because that's when I'll get the package from EMP.de!

Honestly, I'm very excited about this album! I didn't like GLT and WOP so much, although there were some great songs in both albums but from what I heard from the "Monster" samples I expect something better and diverse. There are some heavy songs, some ballads, some new elements, so I think this album will worth buying anyway.

But yes, their image is not appropriate for an album called "Monster". It's not a big deal for me while they don't look extremely gay but I expected some blood, monsters, etc. And now... look at Flux & Crap - they look like pimps :D

Anyway, whoever compares them with the gay pop hermafrodites from Tokio Hotel is not right. Oomph! are not pop and still keep their more metal sound here and there.

So it's not about the cover or the image. Eisbrecher's "Sunde" has incredibly stupid cover, Ruoska use almost funny make-up, Turmion Katilot look disgusting but all these bands make good music. I believe "Monster" will be good, too.

My friend, you and I differ greatly on this particular album. I do not like their early work, and like them better the later the album. I love GLT, and based on the singles so far Monster is probably my most anticipated German release this year :P
Thanks for the update though
