Actually, I took another listen to both of the songs, and I've figured out my problem. I really don't like Lex's singing. The low vocals he does in Ebenbild are fine, the rapping (however much I dislike rap in metal) in Fauler Zauber is cool, but man, I just really don't like it when he sings in the choruses. It's whiny and annoying.

I loved 5, if only because of Mathias' vocal range, especially in Eigentlich. They'd be doing this cool rock stuff with the funky bass line then BAM! Starts growling. I might not be like every other Megaherz fan, but damn, I love that growling.

Lex sounds a lot like Alexx to me, and so far the music makes me think that it's gonna be what 5 would have sounded like with Alexx, but obviously a progression from that. At least they're not afraid of the double bass this time around - could prove to be interesting.

I for one love both Ebenbild and Fauler Zauber. I also have loved both 5 and the rest of Megaherz's albums, albeit different reasons. Hopefully the new album will share some similarities with the last 5 (6 counting Herzwerk), but I also hope that it develops some of its own style, because it's just plain impossible to emulate Alexx's vocals. Trying to sound like them would be a fauler Zauber (cheap trick for those who don't know) itself.

5 was always a fantastic album to me, even from the first time I heard it. It wasn't quite like older Megaherz stuff, but you can't expect it to sound like that anyway, it will never happen. The stuff I've heard from Heuchler isn't like that, though. It just doesn't have the same effect on me so I don't know what to think yet...

I do have to admit, Fauler Zauber is starting to grow on me. I still don't love it unconditionally, but it's definitely sounding better and better. If the final version has the rough edges ironed out, who knows what'll happen? I'm still really anxious to get to sink my teeth into Heuchler.

Paul, yeah, 5 was a hard one to swallow for me as well when I first heard it, but nowadays it's probably one of my favourite records of all time. I wouldn't really even compare it with the other MHZ records, because it's just so different... Mathias's voice is just awesome, and fits his songs perfectly. The result might've been that much worse if he had to sing like Alexx, who, on the other hand, is probably the best in what he does. Lex is also a very good singer, albeit again has a bit different style than Alexx or Matze...

I thought the same of some of the 5 tracks though too, and it's a decent album overall. I'm of course hopeful for an album closer to the earlier Megaherz stuff, but we'll see what happens. Definitely noticeable how much better production even these demos have over the Die! demos though

I liked Ebenbild a lot better than Fauler Zauber also, but this is still a demo and not the finished version. Hopefully we will hear an improvement by the time the song makes it onto the disc.

As Ruumisauto said on the other post, I really don't like this new song. It's boring Linkin Park-esque nu-metal. I expect much better from Megaherz for the rest of the album - I hope there's more of Ebenbild and less of Crawling in my skiiiiiiiiiiiin.
