Germaniac.com will present 100 new bands in 2008

I don’t know about you, but I always notice whenever there’s a new band posted on this blog because I have to make a new category for it. The thing is, I have also noticed that I’m making new categories much less often recently. Just look at the numbers. We had about 6 or 7 months of solid posting time in 2007 since the site was created and made 167 new band categories, but so far in the first 3 months of 2008 we have only listed 19 new bands. Yes, this is partially explained by the fact that a lot of the news now is about bands we’ve already talked about before so there won’t be a new category, but I think it’s necessary to keep talking about new bands and keep the content fresh for you… and hopefully present some new and interesting musicians that are less known.
So here’s the plan: Germaniac.com will present 100 new bands in 2008. We are going to pick up the pace to show you just how deep and varied German music can be in our never-ending quest to give you new music you never knew about. 100 bands new to Germaniac with 100 new band categories, that’s our goal for this year. And by the end of the year, we will have discussed over 250 bands in total. Sound good?

Heh, it’s already looking pretty good I think. Four new bands in just a few days.
Remember everyone, if you find something interesting or think there’s a band that should be covered, you can always comment or email Greg or me about it! We can’t possibly know everything

Should definitely add Solar Fake - Sven from Zeraphine/Dreadful Shadows’ latest project. Great stuff.

Ah, this is a great idea! Right, I thought I’d contribute to this list. It appears as if Obscenity Trial (www.otrial.de) haven’t been mentioned so far. A great Synthpop band from Germany that fans of Depche Mode should consider checking out. Also another German Synthpop band by the name of Melotron (www.melotron.com) - I’m sure many And One fans will have heard of them before. And of course the ever so popular band Alphaville (www.alphaville.de), who made their name in the 80s with hits such as “Big In Japan”, “Sounds Like A Melody” and “Forever Young”. How about the project from Umbra Et Imago’s lead singer Mozart? Dracul! (www.dracul-music.de). Certainly a band worth checking out for those that like the heavier EBM sound. All bands I have mentioned are still active to this day.

I’ve had an eye on Melotron for quite a while, since like June or something. I’ve just been looking for the opportunity to post about something relevant, like a new album - and now it seems as though such an opportunity should rise soon. I’ll get back to them as soon as more details emerge! Also, thanks for hinting about Obscenity Trial, this is some great stuff!

Sternenstaub sounds pretty good! However I’d rather wait for them to give us an update before writing about them, it seems they’re at least working on new material…
