KMFDM remix album Brimborium coming soon

The latest news from Sascha and the gang is that their new remix album is going to be released soon. February 19th in North America and the 22nd in Europe, to be exact. Brimborium (thankfully that’s a bit easier to say than Tohuvabohu) plays for well over an hour and has remixes from some of the best names in industrial and industrial-metal. I am particularly interested in those by Die Krupps, Combichrist, Angelspit, and 16 Volt… all really great bands. There is also a remix from Hau Ruck and a new song created using samples from fan phone calls. I haven’t heard that one yet, but it should be interesting.
The official KMFDM Store has the album available to preorder, or you can head to your favorite store or website which should have it as well. I would suggest either Metropolis ($12.98) or Isotank ($13.49) if you’re in North America.

Gah, why do many industrial bands have to make remix records? I couldn’t care less for them, myself. Most of remixes are just crappy or don’t improve on the originals at all, and a whole album of them? No thanks. I would rather have some really new material instead, bitte. Of course, there’s often one or more new songs on remix albums, but 20 € is a bit too much for just a couple of new songs. Grhm.

Personally, I like remixes. I know… many people don’t, so maybe I am a little strange, but then the musicians must also be strange.
I think the big reasons why they make remix albums are to make some club-friendly songs, and also for the fans to learn about new bands who do the remixing. I have discovered many great bands by listening to remixes and then finding their own music. So in a way, remixes are like the connections between bands. Even if you don’t want to listen to the remixes, I think you might like some of these bands like Angelspit or Combichrist…

The difference is that KMFDM remixes are almost always worth the money.

I agree, KMFDM remixes are… dare I say… better than the originals often? (think megalomaniac)
