Comments on: Nena does an album of coversongs http://www.germaniac.com/blog/2007/09/26/nena-does-an-album-of-coversongs/ Your guide to discovering German music Mon, 15 Mar 2010 08:46:05 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.5 By: CatscratchFan4002 http://www.germaniac.com/blog/2007/09/26/nena-does-an-album-of-coversongs/#comment-2810 CatscratchFan4002 Sun, 18 Jan 2009 20:51:20 +0000 http://www.germaniac.com/blog/2007/09/26/nena-does-an-album-of-coversongs/#comment-2810 i have been a nena fan ever since i heard her song 99 luftballoons.She is very talented and a great singer.I have recently bought her cd "Cover Me" here in america,the cd shop i ordered went through alot to get it for me,took 3 months to get it,but it was worth it.To me,my favorites from the cd are "Mach Die Augen Auf","Eizeit","She's A Rainbow",and "Das Jahr 2000".But all of the songs from the album are very great.If you have never heard of Nena or heard a Nena song,this is the cd to buy.It has a mix of German song as well as English songs,one cd for german fans,one cd for american fans,i'm guessing she did it like that because she is famous in germany,america,UK,and other places as well.What i did find odd is when me and one of my friends bought this cd,it did not include track 18 from cd 1 called "Mein Schwert",in fact,i had never heard of it till a german fan said the cd they bought had it on it.She has made videos for some of the songs.clips of the music videos for 8 songs were shown during a Cover Me cd interview with Nena,though only few people are able to get ahold of the official videos for those 8 songs.the video for "Ich Werde Dich Lieben" was finally found,but none of the 8 were released,just "Mach Die Augen Auf" was released on German television.Nena music still plays on American tv today,i have recently seen "99 Red Balloons" played on VH1 as i have also seen "99 Luftballoons","Just A Dream",and "Let Me Be Your Pirate" played as well.Nena is a music legend,she is a great singer,if you have never heard of Nena,this is the cd to buy. I can see it happening because the CD has a lot of English songs, and there is no female performer in the US aside from Madonna and a few others who are as talented as Nena K. But before anything else, may I ask if you are aware if this CD will be released by a major label here in the US? I've been waiting to hear this. Her voice sounds "enchanting" while the music has a trance/techno feel. I believe Nena's music is a breath of fresh air in the R&B/hiphop dominated music in the US. Listening to Nena in the past few years is like hearing a Moby-produced track with Nena's vocals (try watching the "Ich Kann Nix Dafur" video and you'll see what I mean). Which to me is terrific! I think I was 12 when "99 Luft/Red Balloons" was on top of the world. I've been a fan ever since. I am impressed that Nena still sounds great and still looks beautiful after all these years. Her music has managed to evolve with the times, very much like Madonna has. I'd buy her CD/DVD anytime over most of the "pop princesses/queens" here in the US. This new CD sounds very interesting.
