How do you pronounce that? KMFDM’s new album

KMFDM will be releasing their next album Tohuvabohu on August 21st. The release date is still nearly 2 months away, but it has already been one of the most talked about releases this year. Yet nobody can seem to agree on how to pronounce this Old Testament word (I have heard a number of different variations from people already). Tohuvabohu means “wild and chaotic” which is likely a good description of how the music will sound. The album will be KMFDM’s first time using several new languages including Spanish, Latin, Hebrew and the African language Lingala. And the first track will be laced with recordings sent in by fans about what KMFDM means to them. All of this with their usual mix of industrial, dance, and metal music should be rather interesting.
Just one other thing I’d like to mention… Some have said that KMFDM has split from their tradition of using 5-letter album titles, but I disagree. I think the title was chosen at least in part because it has 5 syllables and therefore still counts, but that’s just my opinion.
Anyway, KMFDM doesn’t have any samples from the new album online yet, but you can listen to some of their older work on their Myspace page. We will probably post another update before the album comes out, so hopefully there will be some samples or even soem full-length songs available by then.
Tohuvabohu will be a joint release by KMFDM Records and Metropolis Records.
